Getting Started with BHRT

Get started on your journey to feeling better by booking your appointment and filling out the Women’s Hormone Evaluation Questionnaire.

Step 1: Book Your Call and Fill Out the Women’s Health Evaluation Questionnaire

To start the conversation on how bio-identical hormone replacement therapy may benefit you, please book your appointment and fill out the hormone questionnaire that is sent to you. It typically takes about 5-7 minutes to complete and your answers will only be shared with our women’s health consultant pharmacist.

Be sure to complete the questionnaire before your scheduled call with a staff member. This call is free and typically lasts 15-20 minutes. Tanya will provide a general overview of the process, review your questionnaire and health history, then make recommendations for which hormones to test (Step 2).

Step 2: Test Your Hormone Levels

Testing hormone levels is one of the most important steps in the effectiveness of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. It is used to assess each individual hormone level, which will help define the therapy regimen. Bird’s Hill Compounding Pharmacy has partnered with ZRT Laboratory to offer a variety of testing methods via blood, urine and saliva.  Each method is available in a convenient at-home kit and provides accurate results without needing to make an extra trip to the doctor’s office. There are also many other lab tests available for your convenience. Test kits can be ordered without a prescription or referral. Recommendations for which hormone testing method to use may vary depending on symptoms and course of treatment. The results of these diagnostic tools help determine a course of treatment that will give you the level of hormones your body needs.

Step 3: Schedule a Consultation

Once your test results have been received, you have the option to schedule a personal consultation by phone with Tanya. You will be notified when it’s time to schedule this important appointment. During the consultation, Tanya will review your results with you and explain how your hormone levels may or may not have a role in your reported symptoms. Recommended next steps will also be discussed.

Step 4: Get a Customized Prescription

Once your consultation is complete, our consultant pharmacist will provide your practitioner with a letter of recommendation explaining your symptoms and lab results, along with a suggested dose of bio-identical hormones. The prescriber will also be provided with an order form to sign and fax to our PCAB-accredited compounding lab.

Together, our compounding pharmacies are licensed in the following states: CT, FL, MA, MD, ME, MO, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VA, VT, WA, WI.  That means, if you reside in any of these states, your prescription can be filled by our women’s health compounding pharmacists who specialize in BHRT.  However, test kits and consultations can be ordered and fulfilled from any state.
